Governor Tom Wolf has announced $4 million in Community Development Block Grant-CARES Act (CDBG-CV) funding to support communities and their residents in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
NEPA Alliance through the Partnership for Regional Economic Performance (Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill, and Wayne counties) will be providing grants of up to $50,000 for small businesses and up to $15,000 for microenterprises (small businesses that employ few people) located in one of those 7 counties that have been severely impacted due to COVID-19. NEPA Alliance anticipates approximately 150 jobs will be retained or created.
Applications will be reviewed and granted on a first come, first served basis until funds are depleted. There is no cost to apply for this grant.
The University of Scranton and Wilkes University Small Business Development Centers are assisting with the application process by offering individual guidance. If you are not already working with an SBDC consultant, please register with the SBDC to receive services.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce has announced plans are well underway for their 130th Anniversary and Executive Business Exposition, which is taking place on Thursday, May 19th at Capriotti’s, One Banks Avenue in McAdoo.
This is the Chamber’s largest event of the year and will be limited to the first 250 chamber member attendees. The presenting sponsor for this year’s event is once again, PPL.
In order to provide the opportunity for all Chamber members to take part in event, plenty of options are available, whether it is attending with a reservation, participating in the expo or as an event sponsor.
The event will kick off at 5 pm with a short program, recognizing the Chamber’s outgoing Board of Directors and change in Board Chair, and then, honoring the Athena Businesswoman of the Year. The Athena Businesswoman of the Year award is sponsored by Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton. After the short program, which will take place in the Capella at Capriotti’s, attendees will then move to the main banquet facility for the Executive Business Exposition. The expo portion of the event will include hand-passed hors d’oeuvres, a 5-station meal and a cash bar. The Expo provides Chamber member businesses and attendees with an informal way to combine the social benefits of the evening, with the opportunity to see some of the goods and services available through local business.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber is pleased to present the April hybrid Red Carpet Breakfast on Thursday, April 21st, 2022. Butler Township Supervisors, Chairman: Charles P. Altmiller; Vice Chairman; Michael J. Reich and Secretary/Treasurer: Dr. Frank Polidora will provide an update the business community on happenings in Butler Township. Attendees will also have the opportunity for a question and answer session at the end of his presentation. The breakfast program will take place at their Township Offices located at 83 Corporate Drive in Drums.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, along with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will once again sponsor the "Great American Cleanup” campaign. The one-day cleanup will be conducted Saturday, April 23rd. If volunteer groups cannot pick up on the 23rd, they can gather either on Friday the 22nd or Sunday the 24th. Groups are asked to leave bags along the cleaup route and PennDOT and local municipatlies will pick up the bags on Monday, April 25th. Garbage bags, safety vests, gloves and a certificate of particpation are provided to all the volunteer groups and can be picked up at the Chamber office from 8 am to 3 pm the week of April 18th.
"The Great American Cleanup" is a statewide effort designed to encourage concerned citizens and groups to participate in a meaningful community beautification effort. The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is the local coordinator for the Greater Hazleton Area.
