The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s networking committee is currently seeking applications for the 17th Annual Women’s Empowerment Grant. This grant has been established to encourage women to pursue training or education that will help them start or advance a career. The target of the grant is women who are: currently working and want to advance in their career through education or training; returning to the workforce; and/or seeking to change their current career path and pursue something more in line with their interests or passions. The grant is also intended to be available to those who would not necessarily have access to scholarships or grants. For this reason, graduating high school students will not be eligible to apply for the grant.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s In Business Networking Committee is holding their second in a series of luncheon program for 2024 Tuesday, May 21st from 12 noon to 1 pm at Four Blooms Restaurant in Drums. The event is being sponsored by Meadow Container and it is open for any woman to attend.
The program will begin promptly at 12 noon and will include lunch. Our guest speaker will be Tamara Hersberger-Tertel, owner of the Poppy Press Food Truck. She will be presenting Charcuterie Board Ideas for your Summer Picnics & Parties and will provide a hands-on presentation on how to create your own charcuterie board and different and unique ideas for summer picnic & parties.
Everyone will enjoy lunch, a 50/50 raffle and doorprize drawings. Attendees are encouraged to bring your business cards, brochures, coupons or giveaways to share on our "Business Resource Table".

Lisa Marie Halecky, Communications & Community Engagement Manger at Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Hazleton, has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Athena Award, sponsored by LVH–Hazleton.
Halecky’s career at LVH–Hazleton began in 2015. In 2019 she received the Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) Guldin Award for Efficiency and Innovation in the Clinical Workplace for managing a team of 35 colleagues, across various departments, to assure patients were having optimal hospital experiences.
Responsible for two key community groups, Lisa Marie leads LVHN’s VitalChoice and Board of Associates programs which consist of 470 members, combined. She also hosts WYLN TV 35’s Wellness Wednesday program which provides up-to-date health information provided by LVHN experts.

Lots of places are famous for their piping hot pizza. Hazleton's hometown specialty is actually preferred cold.
The deli-style square pies, boxed or available as single cuts wrapped in cellophane and sold in corner stores, are a tradition in and around the city.
While living in Tennessee, Andrew Baranko longed for that taste of home. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he and his sisters developed a recipe and began selling the pies around Nashville.
Word started to spread — in Tennessee, and back in Pennsylvania.
"We were doing pop-ups and farmers markets down there. We had some visitors from our hometown come and try it and they're like, 'you've got to bring this back to Hazleton,'" Baranko said.
