Only a few openings remain for the 52nd Annual Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing which will take place on Thursday, August 15th. The shotgun start tournament is scheduled to take place at Split Rock Golf Club in Lake Harmony at 11 am. Registration begins at 9 am.
Registration includes 18 holes of golf and a cart, gift for each golfer, prior to shotgun start coffee, donuts, bloody mary's and mimosas. On-course expo all day with businesses setup at the tees providing giveaways, food, drinks, snacks, games and more. An on-course hospitality tent with the famous ‘Chamber Chili Dogs", snacks, beer and drinks. After the round of golf there is a one-hour premium open bar and hors d' oeuvre reception followed by a full buffet dinner and awards program, where trophies will be given out for championship, first and second flight, men's longest drive, women's longest drive, closest to the pin and closest to the pin second shot on the green. A 50/50 raffle prize winner will be awarded and over $2,000 in prizes will also be given away.

The Community Awareness Committee of the Greater Hazleton of Commerce is currently looking for any restaurant or catering facility to participate in the 12th Annual Tastes of Greater Hazleton. The event features a sampling of signature dishes and products from restaurants and businesses from throughout Greater Hazleton.
It is scheduled to take place Sunday, October 13th from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm at the Laurel Mall in Hazleton.
The opportunity is open to any restaurant or catering facility from throughout Greater Hazleton. There is no registration fee for Chamber member businesses and a one-time offer to non Chamber members of $150, however if the business would join the Chamber by the date of the event, the cost could be credited toward Chamber membership.
Each participating business is asked to provide a tasting, approximately 300 samples, to each of the individuals who attend the event. Businesses are provided with all paper products for the event. The goal of this event is to show off one of your signature dishes and promote and market your restaurant to a wide audience. This also gives the residents of Greater Hazleton a look at the excellent variety of restaurants that are located right in their own backyard.

The Downtown Hazleton Farmer's Market and Health Fair will kick off its eighth year on Friday, July 12th and continue every Friday through September 6th. The market hours will be 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. A weekly Health Fair will again be held in conjunction with the market, which will include several health practitioners offering free health screenings and educational information on health and wellness, such as spinal screenings, blood pressure screenings, dental health information, and nutrition and exercise information.
The market and health fair will take place along Broad Street at the corner of Laurel Street. A ribbon cutting will take place on Friday, July 12th at 10:15 AM with Mayor Cusat and other special guests to celebrate the market opening. The Chamber of Commerce operates the market with the support of the Downtown Hazleton Alliance for Progress and the Keystone Job Corps. Sponsors of the 2019 market include the Geisinger Foundation and the Luzerne County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Weekly vendors will include Burger’s Farm (fresh farm produce), Sugar & Loaf Bakery (artisanal and specialty baked goods), Keiner’s Nursery & Apiary (honey and honey products), the Commission on Economic Opportunity (healthy cooking demonstrations), and the Keystone Job Corps (educational programs). Special guests, vendors, and health care providers will also participate each week.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking committee is currently seeking applications for the twelfth annual Women’s Empowerment Grant. This grant was established to encourage women to pursue training or education that will help them start or advance a career. The target of the grant is women who are: currently working and want to advance in their career through education or training; returning to the workforce; and/or seeking to change their current career path and pursue something more in line with their interests or passions. The grant is also intended to be available to those who would not necessarily have access to scholarships or grants. For this reason, graduating high school students will not be eligible to apply for the grant.
Candidates must reside within the service area of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, which includes anyone who resides within the Hazleton Area School District. Applications and cover letters are due no later than July 31st, 2019 with an anticipated August 31st notification. All applications will be scored on the following areas: Academic Information, Employment Information, Civic Involvement, Essay and Financial Need.
