The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is offering a seminar entitled The Business Surrounding Amazon AWS on Wednesday, April 24th.

In this session, we will discuss how technology has impacted the way most businesses have been trained to operate their IT operations and data storage, and how the Cloud has eliminated the need for dedicated servers, back-up storage, and pay for what you need.

The seminar will review: What is Serverless? Cloud-enabled storage and access to platforms that are traditionally a purchase and store concept. Why use Serverless? Serverless enables you to build modern applications with increased agility and lower cost of ownership. What are the benefits of Serverless? Serverless has four main benefits: 1.)   NO SERVER MANAGEMENT; 2.) FLEXIBLE SCALING; 3.) PAY FOR VALUE and 4.) AUTOMATED HIGH AVAILABILITY.

The Greater Hazleton and Schuylkill County Chambers of Commerce are once again joining together for an annual networking mixer being hosted by Mountain Valley Golf Course on Wednesday, April 17th. The mixer is being co-sponsored by Mountain Valley Golf Course and American Computer Associates. Mountain Valley Golf Course is located at 1021 Brockton Mountain Road in Barnesville. Chamber members can invite their employees, co-workers and guests to attend the event, which is scheduled to take place from 5 pm to 7:30 pm. This mixer is free to attend and offers a casual, after-hours networking opportunity for the business community.

The theme for this year’s event is “Celebrate Spring at Mountain Valley’s Polynesian Paradise”. All attendees will enjoy an array of complimentary hors d' oeuvres, beer & wine. In addition, Mountain Valley Special - free green fees with $15 cart rental the day of the mixer. For tee times please call the pro shop at 570-467-2242 ext 1 and mention “mixer”.

Icebreaker Golf Outing sponsored by American Eagle OutfittersEagle Rock Resort will be the site of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce 15th Annual Icebreaker Golf Outing. American Eagle Outfitters is the premiere sponsor for this event.

The outing is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 26th with an 11am luncheon and a 12 noon tee off. Registration, which is $75 per player and includes a buffet lunch, round of golf with cart, and a drink voucher after the round of play.

Championship and Flight awards will be provided as well as awards for longest drive, longest putt and closest to the pin. Deadline for registrations is Friday, April 19th.

A seminar on important steps in starting a business will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce.

“Preparing a Business Plan and Financial Projections” is the second in a series offered by Penn State Hazleton, the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, CAN BE, the Downtown Hazleton Alliance for Progress, and the Small Business Development Center at Wilkes University (SBDC) for those interested in starting or growing their own business.

A business plan is an important step toward business success. Statistics indicate that businesses that plan ahead are often more successful than those that do not. In addition, if financing is required to start the business, then a business plan is required.

New businesses are often in need of financing. Traditional bank financing, micro-loan programs, angel investors, home equity loans, and lines of credit are the most popular means for starting a business. The seminar will present an overview of which avenue may be best for you.
