The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of their Annual 2018 Business and Community Awards. In an attempt to help promote October as “Chamber of Commerce” month, the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce will hold a special awards luncheon, sponsored by Community Bank, NA, to recognize the winners of the awards. The luncheon will take place on Thursday, October 25th at 11:45 am at Sand Springs Country Club in Drums. The cost of the luncheon is $25 per person. Winning the 2018 Small Business of the Year Award, sponsored by the 2006 recipient, Comfort Keepers is Sand Springs Country Club. The purpose of the award is to show appreciation and recognition to a small business in the Greater Hazleton Area and promote the importance of small businesses to the economy and welfare of the entire community. Eligible applicants included any Chamber member business that has no more than 50 full-time employees and is located in the Greater Hazleton area. Judging was based on staying power, growth, community contribution, and overall management philosophy.
The 2018 Large Business of the Year Award, sponsored by the 2009 recipient, Gottstein Corporation is Comfort Keepers. The purpose of the award is to show appreciation and recognition to a large business in the Greater Hazleton and promote the importance of large businesses to the economy and welfare of the community. Eligible applicants included any Chamber member business that has more than 50 full-time employees and is located in the Greater Hazleton Area. Judging was based on staying power, growth, community contribution, and overall management philosophy.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce and the Lackawanna College Continuing Education Department are offering a Finance for the Non-Financial Manager training on Friday, October 12th.
This one-day program is designed for individuals in need of information on effectively working with numbers and finances and the target participants are supervisors or managers who need a level of comfort working with finances. The training will provide an overview of finance and accounting; reading a financial statement and working with budgets; knowing how, when and where to use numbers for analysis and business decisions; replace intimidation with knowledge as it relates to finances.

Heritage Hill Senior Living is sponsoring an exclusive Hazleton Chamber and Carbon Chamber Networking Mixer on Wednesday, October 10th from 5 pm to 7 pm. Heritage Hill is located at 800 Sixth Street in Weatherly.
Chamber members, their employees, co-workers & guests are invited to this free, casual, after-hours event, which provides each Chamber to network as one. This harvest pairing will offer food tastings and cocktails. Attendees are encouraged to bring along business cards to share with new contacts and for a chance to win doorprizes. The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is kicking off October as Chamber of Commerce Month, and in doing so, they are holding an event to recognize several long-standing members who are celebrating a special anniversary with the organization in 2018. The 4TH Annual Anniversary Membership Celebration will take place on Thursday, October 4th. In addition to the businesses being recognized, as well as their employees, the entire Chamber membership is invited to attend. During this mixer-style event, each business will be recognized during a brief program and will also receive a gift from the Chamber. Everyone will enjoy complimentary hors d' oeuvres, beer & wine.
