Chamber Golf Outing & On-Course Expo Set for August 16th Has Limited Space Available

51st Annual Golf Outing & On-Course Business Exposition Only a few openings remain for the 51st Annual Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing which will take place on Thursday, August 16th. The shotgun start tournament is scheduled to take place at Mountain Valley Golf Course in Barnesville at 11 am. Registration begins at 9 am.

Registration includes 18 holes of golf and a cart, gift for each golfer, prior to shotgun start coffee, donuts, bloody mary's and mimosas. On-course expo all day with businesses setup at the tees providing giveaways, food, drinks, snacks, games and more. An on-course hospitality tent with the famous ‘Chamber Chili Dogs", snacks, beer and drinks. After the round of golf there is a one-hour premium open bar and hors d' oeuvre reception followed by a full buffet dinner and awards program, where trophies will be given out for championship, first and second flight, men's longest drive, women's longest drive, closest to the pin and closest to the pin second shot on the green. A 50/50 raffle prize winner will be awarded and over $2,000 in prizes will also be given away.

Hazleton Auto Trades Association to Sponsor 2018 Downtown Hazleton Classic Car Cruise-In

2018 Downtown Hazleton Car Cruise-In The 2018 Downtown Hazleton Classic Car Cruise-In will take place in Downtown Hazleton on Friday, August 3rd (rain date August 10th) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Cruise-In, coordinated by the Downtown Committee of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, is sponsored by Hazleton Auto Trades Association. “The Hazleton Auto Trades Association is excited to partner with the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce for this year’s car cruise” stated Matt DePrimo of Barber Ford, president of the association. “Together the association members have had over 250 years of membership with the chamber. We understand the importance of a strong chamber in our community and look forward to the opportunity to bring a family friendly event that also represents a chance for us to showcase our individual businesses. We hope to see you all for a fun summer evening.”

On Cruise night, the classic vehicles enter at Church and Chestnut Streets (by the former Blue Comet Diner), make a left onto Laurel Street and then continue to Broad Street where they will immediately park between Cedar and Church Streets and will be available to the public for viewing until 9 p.m. Dash Plaques, compliments of Lehigh Tire Company, will be presented to the first 100 vehicles as well as goodie bags, donated by local businesses.

Chamber Woman’s Luncheon Set for July 31st

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking Committee is holding their fourth in a series of woman’s networking luncheon programs for 2018 Tuesday, July 31st from 12 noon to 1 pm at Martin’s Restaurant located at 301 E. Broad Street in West Hazleton. The event is being sponsored by Fyzical Therapy & Balance Center at Hazleton and it is open for any woman to attend.

The program will begin promptly at 12 noon and will include lunch. Our guest speaker is Ting Oh, Owner and Physical Therapist at Fyzical Therapy & Balance Center at Hazleton. Ting will discuss hearing loss and dementia. Both hearing loss and dementia have been linked in numerous studies. He will discuss how to take positive steps to improve hearing wellness and how it can reduce the risk of dementia for yourself or a loved one.

Dooprize drawings including, a free lunch for the next program and the opportunity to give an introduction of your business at the event will be drawn. Women are encouraged to bring along promotional items, such as business cards, brochures, giveaways, etc. to display on our business resource table.

Chamber Women’s Networking Committee Announces Applications Are Available for Women’s Empowerment Grant

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking committee is currently seeking applications for the tenth annual Women’s Empowerment Grant. This grant was established to encourage women to pursue training or education that will help them start or advance a career. The target of the grant is women who are: currently working and want to advance in their career through education or training; returning to the workforce; and/or seeking to change their current career path and pursue something more in line with their
interests or passions. The grant is also intended to be available to those who would not necessarily have access to scholarships or grants. For this reason, graduating high school students will not be eligible to apply for the grant.

Candidates must reside within the service area of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, which includes anyone who resides within the Hazleton Area School District. Applications and cover letters are due no later than July 27th with an anticipated August 31st notification. All applications will be scored on the following areas: Academic Information, Employment Information, Civic Involvement, Essay and Financial Need.
