The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is kicking off October as Chamber of Commerce Month, and in doing so, they are holding an event to recognize several long-standing members who are celebrating a special anniversary with the organization in 2017. The 3rd Annual Anniversary Membership Celebration will take place on Thursday, October 5th. In addition to the businesses being recognized, as well as their employees, the entire Chamber membership is invited to attend. During this mixer-style event, each business will be recognized during a brief program and will also receive a gift from the Chamber. Everyone will enjoy complimentary hors d' oeuvres, beer & wine.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is offering a seminar on Succession Planning for Small Businesses on Thursday, October 5th.
It is never too early or too late to plan for your future...During this program, Cindy Milan-Ortiz, Assistant Branch Manager for Woodforest National Bank will discuss changing ownership of a business through selling, closing or handing to a successor. She will provide helpful information in order to establish an exit strategy for retirement including a succession plan, transfer of ownership and taxes.

The Community Awareness Committee of the Greater Hazleton of Commerce announces the 10th Annual Tastes of Greater Hazleton. The event will feature a sampling of signature dishes and products from twenty restaurants and businesses from throughout Greater Hazleton.
It is open to the public and will take place on Sunday, October 15th from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm at the Health & Wellness Center at Hazleton, located at 50 Moisey Drive in Hazle Township. According to Anna Jean Onuschak, committee and event chair, “This has been a sell-out event since its inception, so we really encourage folks to purchase their tickets in advance, since typically we do not have many to sell at the door.”

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking committee has recently awarded their ninth annual Women’s Empowerment Grants. This grant was established to encourage women to pursue training or education that will help them start or advance a career. The target of the grant is women who are currently working and want to advance in their career through education or training; are returning to the workforce; or are seeking to change their current career path.
“The applications we received this year were all outstanding and we truly feel the recipients for this year’s grants will be empowered by receiving the assistance these grants are able to provide.” explains Leann Fallabel, Chamber VP of Marketing and Woman’s Networking Committee Coordinator.
