The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is offering First Aid / CPR / AED Training on Wednesday, January 11th.
Every workplace is required to have a complement of employees trained in First Aid/CPR/AED, should a medical emergency occur. This course is being offered for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED used to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. This American Heart “HeartSaver” instruction, a comprehensive course taught in a dynamic, hands-on way with industry-leading curriculum and content from the expert in occupational first aid training. Participants will learn to: recognize a medical emergency, handle breathing and cardiac emergencies, act appropriately and effectively and sustain life until professional help arrives, prevent disease transmission and identify and care for bleeding, sudden illness and injuries. Those who would benefit from this course include: emergency response teams, safety personnel, supervisors, individuals requiring CPR certification and the general public.

The holiday season is just around the corner, and the downtown committee of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is planning to make this holiday season in center-city one of the best in years.
The 2016 downtown Hazleton holiday promotion begins on Wednesday, November 23rd and will continue for three weeks. Participating businesses will contribute $10 which collectively with other downtown merchants creates four $50 prizes consisting of five $10 “Downtown Bucks” certificates. In addition, the Wiltsie Center has generously donated two tickets to the Twelve Twenty Four show as an additional prize. The show will take place on December 28th beginning at 7pm at The Wiltsie Center, 700 North Wyoming Street, Hazleton. Plus, as an added bonus, Chaskin Jewelers will contribute the grand prize, a $100 gift certificate which could be used at their store in honor of their 100th year in business.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Holiday Social will take place on Thursday, December 8 from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm. This event is being hosted by Edgewood by Sand Springs. Fyzical Therapy and Balance Centers is once again sponsoring the event.
The winners of the 12th Annual Holiday Decorating Contest will be announced at the social, with the Grand Prize to be chosen by those attending the event. The Grand Prize will be free commercial production, for a spot to be used exclusively on WYLN TV 35 ($450 value) AND one-month free Late Edition Commercial Package (value $395). This is the ninth year in a row WYLN TV 35 has provided a prize for the Chamber’s annual decorating contest. Additional prizes will be awarded to the judges choices and will include: “4 Skip” one month digital billboard advertising package ($600 value) provided by The Printmark Group; 1 month personal training with Brad ($400 value) provided by Fyzical Therapy & Balance Centers; 3 month fitness membership to the Health & Wellness Center at Hazleton provided by the Lehigh Valley Health Network; a 1/3 page ad in Panorama Magazine ($275 value); and the Chamber will offer up to five complimentary women’s networking luncheon passes. Each business who participated in the contest will also be recognized with a special certificate.
