The deadline of July 29th is approaching for the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking ninth annual Women’s Empowerment Grant. This grant was established to encourage women to pursue training or education that will help them start or advance a career. The target of the grant is women who are: currently working and want to advance in their career through education or training; returning to the workforce; and/or seeking to change their current career path and pursue something more in line with their
interests or passions. The grant is also intended to be available to those who would not necessarily have access to scholarships or grants. For this reason, graduating high school students will not be eligible to apply for the grant.

The 49th Annual Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing and On-Course Business Exposition will be held Thursday, August 18th at Edgewood in Drums and Berger Family Dealerships is once again, offering a chance to win prizes if a golfer hits a hole in one on select holes during the round of golf. The 2016 Downtown Hazleton Classic Car Cruise-In will take place in Downtown Hazleton on Friday, August 5th (rain date August 12th) from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Cruise-In, coordinated by the Downtown Committee of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, is sponsored by Hazleton Auto Trade Association. “The Hazleton Auto Trade Association is excited to partner with the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce for this year’s car cruise” stated Matt DePrimo of Barber Ford, president of the association. “Together the association members have had over 240 years of membership with the chamber. We understand the importance of a strong chamber in our community and look forward to the opportunity to bring a family friendly event that also represents a chance for us to showcase our individual businesses. We hope to see you all for a fun summer evening.”
On Cruise night, the classic vehicles enter at Church and Chestnut Streets (by the former Blue Comet Diner), make a left onto Laurel Street and then continue to Broad Street where they will immediately park between Cedar and Church Streets and will be available to the public for viewing until 9 p.m. Dash Plaques, compliments of Lehigh Tire Company, will be presented to the first 100 vehicles as well as goodie bags, donated by local businesses.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking Committee is holding their third in a series of woman’s networking luncheon programs for 2016 Tuesday, July 26th from 12 noon to 1 pm at 3 Bobby D’s located at 789 N. Locust Street in Hazleton. The event is being sponsored by Fyzical Therapy & Balance Center and it is open for any woman to attend.
The program will begin promptly at 12 noon and will include a buffet style lunch. Our guest speaker is Maria Jacketti, creator of Mountain Laurel Copywriting and she will present "We Are What We Write -- How Professional Writing Can Catalyze Your Business". In this presentation, Maria will explain how businesses can fill their professional writing needs. She will offer an overview of the vast terrain of professional writing and offer some classic tips for navigating the discipline's many genres, such as composing emails, press releases and business plans.
