Anniversary Celebration Being Held for Long-Time Members of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is kicking off October as Chamber of Commerce Month, and in doing so, they are holding an event to recognize several long-standing members who are celebrating a special anniversary with the organization in 2019. The 5TH Annual Anniversary Membership Celebration will take place on Thursday, October 3rd. In addition to the businesses being recognized, as well as their employees, the entire Chamber membership is invited to attend. During this mixer-style event, each business will be recognized during a brief program and will also receive a gift from the Chamber. Everyone will enjoy complimentary hors d' oeuvres and beverages.

“October’s celebration of Chamber of Commerce Month, is the perfect opportunity to recognize local businesses who are celebrating a milestone anniversary with us in 2019. Chamber Announces 12th Annual Tastes of Greater Hazleton Event Slated for October 13th

Tastes of Greater HazletonThe Community Awareness Committee of the Greater Hazleton of Commerce announces the 12th Annual Tastes of Greater Hazleton. The event will feature a sampling of signature dishes and products from sixteen restaurants and businesses from throughout Greater Hazleton.

It is open to the public and will take place on Sunday, October 13th from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm at the Laurel Mall, located on Route 93, 106 Laurel Mall Drive, in Hazle Township. According to Anna Jean Onuschak, committee and event chair, “This has been an extremely popular event since its inception, so we really encourage folks to purchase their tickets in advance.”

Chamber Women’s Networking Committee Awards Woman’s Empowerment Grants

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking committee has recently awarded their twelfth annual Women’s Empowerment Grants. This grant was established to encourage women to pursue training or education that will help them start or advance a career. The target of the grant is women who are currently working and want to advance in their career through education or training; are returning to the workforce; or are seeking to change their current career path.

“The applications we received this year were all outstanding and we truly feel the recipients for this year’s grants will be empowered by receiving the assistance these grants are able to provide.” explains Leann Fallabel, Chamber VP of Marketing and Woman’s Networking Committee Coordinator.

Chamber Seeking Candidates for Annual Business & Community Awards

Business & Community AwardsThe Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is now seeking nominations for their 18th Annual Business & Community Awards. The awards are given each year in order to recognize individuals and businesses, which help to promote and support the Greater Hazleton Area.

Nominations are being accepted for: Small Business of the Year; Large Business of the Year, Rocco Colangelo Volunteer of the Year, Pride of Place, Healthy Workplace of the Year, Green Business of the Year and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

A business or individual may be nominated for an award or they can nominate themselves. Once the nomination is received by the Chamber, the nominee will be notified and asked to complete an official application. The applications are reviewed and scored by a volunteer committee, and all winners will be recognized at a special luncheon program, sponsored by Community Bank, N.A., to be held on Thursday, October 24th at 11:45 am Four Blooms Restaurant in Drums.

Chamber Golf Winners Announced

Chamber Golf Tournament WinnersThe team comprised of players from The Law Offices of Skokoski & DeCosmo, P.C., Charles DeCosmo, Greg Passon, Chris Sallemi and Jay Sallemi took the Chamber’s Championship flight award during the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce 52nd Annual Golf Tournament held Thursday, August 15th at Split Rock Golf Club in Lake Harmony.

120 golfers took part in the tournament which featured trophies, prizes and awards valued at over $15,000.00.

Chamber Mixer Taking Place at Precision Design Next Week

Precision DesignA special Chamber Networking mixer is taking place on Wednesday, September 4th from 5 pm to 7 pm at Precision Design, located inside the Broad Street Business Exchange building located on Broad and Laurel Streets, 100 W. Broad Street, Suite 301 in Downtown Hazleton. This is a publication of the Chamber that Precision Design publishes bi-annually and is used as our main marketing piece for the area. Chamber Announces Starting Assignments for Tommorrows Golf Outing

124 local and regional golfers will tee off at 11:00 AM tomorrow, August 15th for the 52nd Annual Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing. The shotgun start tournament is scheduled to take place at 11 am at Split Rock Golf Club in Lake Harmony, with registration beginning at 9:30 am, and will feature trophies, prizes and awards.

The tournament will begin with registration, coffee & donuts, and $5k putting contest qualifications at 9:30 am. Food and drinks are provided throughout the day, as well as an on-course expo. A cocktail hour and hors d’ oeuvres as well as a full course dinner and awards program will take place following the round of play.

Championship, first and second flight awards will be given. A closest to the pin, closet to the pin - second shot on the green and a men’s and women’s longest drive will also be presented. A Pot of Gold contest will be conducted and hole in one contests will take place featuring a $5,000 cash prize and more.

US Congressman Meuser to Speak at Chamber Breakfast

Congressman MeuserThe Greater Hazleton Chamber will be hosting an August Red Carpet in our legislative series. The newly drawn legislative map that started on January 1st, 2019 has parts of the Greater Hazleton Area in the 9th Congressional District. Congressman Meuser will discuss legislation affecting the Greater Hazleton area community. Attendees will also have the opportunity for a question and answer session at the end of his presentation. The breakfast program is sponsored by Mauch Chunk Trust Company, and will take place on Thursday, August 29th at Capriotti’s, One Banks Avenue in McAdoo.

The program will begin at 7:45 am and conclude at 9:00 am. A full breakfast will be served and the cost to attend is $20 for chamber members and $25 for non-chamber members. The Red Carpet programs are conducted monthly by the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce as a way of providing information to the local business community and offers new and expanded business networking opportunities. Those in attendance will also be introduced to the services that the event sponsor, Mauch Chunk Trust offers prior to Congressman Meuser’s address. Chamber Woman’s Luncheon Set for July 30th

July Women's LuncheonThe Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking Committee is holding their fourth in a series of woman’s networking luncheon programs for 2018 Tuesday, July 30th from 12 noon to 1 pm at Ovalon Restaurant located at 252 N. Wyoming Street in West Hazleton. The event is being sponsored by M&T Bank and it is open for any woman to attend.

The program will begin promptly at 12 noon and will include lunch. Our guest speaker is Tammy Rodgers, Education Specialist at Domestic Violence Service Center who will present on Domestic Violence in the Workplace. Domestic violence has no boundaries. Tammy will discuss domestic violence and how it affects workplace issues through performance, loss of jobs, coming to the workplace and the workplace community.

Chamber Golf Outing & On-Course Expo Set for August 15th Has Limited Space Available

Golf Promo picOnly a few openings remain for the 52nd Annual Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing which will take place on Thursday, August 15th. The shotgun start tournament is scheduled to take place at Split Rock Golf Club in Lake Harmony at 11 am. Registration begins at 9 am.

Registration includes 18 holes of golf and a cart, gift for each golfer, prior to shotgun start coffee, donuts, bloody mary's and mimosas. On-course expo all day with businesses setup at the tees providing giveaways, food, drinks, snacks, games and more. An on-course hospitality tent with the famous ‘Chamber Chili Dogs", snacks, beer and drinks. After the round of golf there is a one-hour premium open bar and hors d' oeuvre reception followed by a full buffet dinner and awards program, where trophies will be given out for championship, first and second flight, men's longest drive, women's longest drive, closest to the pin and closest to the pin second shot on the green. A 50/50 raffle prize winner will be awarded and over $2,000 in prizes will also be given away.

Chamber Seeking Restaurants or Catering Facilities to Take Part in the 12th Annual Tastes of Greater Hazleton

The Community Awareness Committee of the Greater Hazleton of Commerce is currently looking for any restaurant or catering facility to participate in the 12th Annual Tastes of Greater Hazleton. The event features a sampling of signature dishes and products from restaurants and businesses from throughout Greater Hazleton.

It is scheduled to take place Sunday, October 13th from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm at the Laurel Mall in Hazleton.

The opportunity is open to any restaurant or catering facility from throughout Greater Hazleton. There is no registration fee for Chamber member businesses and a one-time offer to non Chamber members of $150, however if the business would join the Chamber by the date of the event, the cost could be credited toward Chamber membership.

Each participating business is asked to provide a tasting, approximately 300 samples, to each of the individuals who attend the event. Businesses are provided with all paper products for the event. The goal of this event is to show off one of your signature dishes and promote and market your restaurant to a wide audience. This also gives the residents of Greater Hazleton a look at the excellent variety of restaurants that are located right in their own backyard.

2019 Season of the Downtown Hazleton Farmer’s Market Will Open Friday, July 12

Downtown Hazleton Farmers MarketThe Downtown Hazleton Farmer's Market and Health Fair will kick off its eighth year on Friday, July 12th and continue every Friday through September 6th. The market hours will be 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. A weekly Health Fair will again be held in conjunction with the market, which will include several health practitioners offering free health screenings and educational information on health and wellness, such as spinal screenings, blood pressure screenings, dental health information, and nutrition and exercise information.

The market and health fair will take place along Broad Street at the corner of Laurel Street. A ribbon cutting will take place on Friday, July 12th at 10:15 AM with Mayor Cusat and other special guests to celebrate the market opening. The Chamber of Commerce operates the market with the support of the Downtown Hazleton Alliance for Progress and the Keystone Job Corps. Sponsors of the 2019 market include the Geisinger Foundation and the Luzerne County Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Weekly vendors will include Burger’s Farm (fresh farm produce), Sugar & Loaf Bakery (artisanal and specialty baked goods), Keiner’s Nursery & Apiary (honey and honey products), the Commission on Economic Opportunity (healthy cooking demonstrations), and the Keystone Job Corps (educational programs). Special guests, vendors, and health care providers will also participate each week.

Chamber Women’s Networking Committee Announces Applications Are Available for Women’s Empowerment Grant

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking committee is currently seeking applications for the twelfth annual Women’s Empowerment Grant. This grant was established to encourage women to pursue training or education that will help them start or advance a career. The target of the grant is women who are: currently working and want to advance in their career through education or training; returning to the workforce; and/or seeking to change their current career path and pursue something more in line with their interests or passions. The grant is also intended to be available to those who would not necessarily have access to scholarships or grants. For this reason, graduating high school students will not be eligible to apply for the grant.

Candidates must reside within the service area of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, which includes anyone who resides within the Hazleton Area School District. Applications and cover letters are due no later than July 31st, 2019 with an anticipated August 31st notification. All applications will be scored on the following areas: Academic Information, Employment Information, Civic Involvement, Essay and Financial Need.

Chamber Icebreaker Golf Outing Winners Announced

Icebreaker Golf OutingThe two-man team comprised of Jared Gregor and Darren Evanoff from Adecco took the Chamber’s championship flight award during the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce 15th Annual Icebreaker Golf Outing Friday, April 26th at Eagle Rock Resort in Hazleton.

Other winners in the tournament were: First Flight representing MassMutual Eastern PA, Ron Mead and Rob Glycenfer. Second Flight representing Kazimierz Pulaski Club, John Wisdo and Tom Piscura.

Donna Marie Barna Selected as Chamber’s 2019 Athena Recipient

Donna Marie Barna has been selected as the recipient of the 2019 Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Athena Award, sponsored by Blaise Alexander Family  Dealerships.

Barna is the President of Billig–Helmes Insurance, a fifth-generation family-owned business operating in the Greater Hazleton area since 1902. Her career started as a customer service representative in 1983 and she has progressed through a series of positions with increasing responsibility and took over as President in 2016. Through Berna’s guidance, she continues to grow and expand the family business and set it up for continued success.

Chamber Hosting Seminar Entitled The Business Surrounding Amazon

Greater Hazleton and Schuylkill County Chambers Join Together for Annual Networking Mixer

The Greater Hazleton and Schuylkill County Chambers of Commerce are once again joining together for an annual networking mixer being hosted by Mountain Valley Golf Course on Wednesday, April 17th. The outing is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 26th with an 11am luncheon and a 12 noon tee off. Registration, which is $75 per player and includes a buffet lunch, round of golf with cart, and a drink voucher after the round of play.

Seminar for entrepreneurs to be held April 3 in Hazleton

A seminar on important steps in starting a business will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce.

“Preparing a Business Plan and Financial Projections” is the second in a series offered by Penn State Hazleton, the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, CAN BE, the Downtown Hazleton Alliance for Progress, and the Small Business Development Center at Wilkes University (SBDC) for those interested in starting or growing their own business.

A business plan is an important step toward business success. Statistics indicate that businesses that plan ahead are often more successful than those that do not. In addition, if financing is required to start the business, then a business plan is required.

New businesses are often in need of financing. Traditional bank financing, micro-loan programs, angel investors, home equity loans, and lines of credit are the most popular means for starting a business. The seminar will present an overview of which avenue may be best for you.

Chamber Recruiting Volunteers for the Great Pennsylvania Cleanup in Greater Hazleton

Great PA Cleanup 2019The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, along with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will once again sponsor the "Great Pennsylvania Cleanup” campaign. The offical day of the cleanup will be Saturday, April 27, 2019. Groups are welcome to begin cleanup on Monday, April 22nd. Bags must be on the side of the roadways or in parks no later then Sunday, April 28th. If any groups cleanup after this date, you will be responsible for contacting your local city, borough or municipality for pickup of garbage bags.

"The Great Pennsylvania Cleanup" is a statewide effort designed to encourage concerned citizens and groups to participate in a meaningful community beautification effort. The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is the local coordinator for the Greater Hazleton Area.

This year marks the thirty-seventh year that the Chamber is coordinating the yearly cleanup in the Greater Hazleton Area. The cleanup has become the largest volunteer effort in Luzerne County. During the last few years, nearly 90 groups consisting of 1,500 volunteers participated in the one-day cleanup effort. Assisting the Chamber and PennDOT in the cleanup effort are the street departments of the City of Hazleton, Hazle Township, West Hazleton Borough, Butler Township, Conyngham Borough, Freeland Borough, Sugarloaf Township, and Black Creek Township.

Every workplace is required to have a complement of employees trained in First Aid/CPR/AED, should a medical emergency occur.

This course is being offered for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED used to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements. Congressman Elect Matt Cartwright to Speak at Chamber Breakfast

The Greater Hazleton Chamber will be hosting a December Red Carpet in our legislative series. Starting on January 1, 2019 our area will be part of the newly drawn 8th Congressional District. Rep. Matt Cartwright will be our new representative in the Washington DC. Congressman Elect Cartwright will discuss legislation affecting the Greater Hazleton area community. Events Planned to Mark Entrepreneurship Week

PSU Entrepreneur WeekPenn State Hazleton, the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Hazleton Alliance for Progress and CAN BE are planning a series of events for Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is a weeklong celebration of entrepreneurship, intrapreneurship and innovation. GEW at Penn State was first held on the University Park campus in 2009, the year after the international founding of GEW, and since then it has continued to grow exponentially. In 2009, GEW hosted five events, engaging 48 students. In 2017, GEW Penn State organized 105 events at 16 different Commonwealth locations, drawing 4,816 students, faculty, staff and community participants.

Chamber and Lackawanna College Hazleton Center to Offer Training on Diversity in the Workplace

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce and the Lackawanna College Continuing Education Department are offering a Diversity in the Workplace training on Tuesday, October 23rd.

During this one-day program attendees will learn business practices that are culturally sensitive and inclusive. Participants will prepare themselves for managing the dynamic of differences, through self-awareness, identifying their cultural communication skills and the culture of the organization. The participants will explore diversity through deep and surface culture, be aware of their privilege and power, and develop skills to have greater insight into the social/cultural issues needed to affect positive change in their organization. And they will understand why it makes business sense to have employees become culturally competent.

Chamber Women’s Networking Committee Awards Woman’s Empowerment Grants

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking committee has recently awarded their eleventh annual Women’s Empowerment Grants. This grant was established to encourage women to pursue training or education that will help them start or advance a career. The target of the grant is women who are currently working and want to advance in their career through education or training; are returning to the workforce; or are seeking to change their current career path.

“The applications we received this year were all outstanding and we truly feel the recipients for this year’s grants will be empowered by receiving the assistance these grants are able to provide.” explains Leann Fallabel, Chamber VP of Marketing and Woman’s Networking Committee Coordinator.

The Women’s Networking Committee raises money for this grant throughout the year at their events including, evening networking mixers, an annual Ladies Night Out event, a holiday decorating contest and social and luncheon programs. Since the inception of this grant, the Chamber has been able to award 37 women, $32,000 in grant funds.

Chamber Announces Menu for Tastes of Greater Hazleton Event Happening Sunday

Tastes of Greater HazletonThe Community Awareness Committee of the Greater Hazleton of Commerce invites the public to attend the 11th Annual Tastes of Greater Hazleton, which will be held this Sunday, October 14th from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm at a new location for 2018, the Laurel Mall in Hazleton.

Event coordinators have announced that three demonstrations will take place at the event and they will be provided by the Frankie’s Pizzeria & Restaurant, Four Blooms Restaurant and T. Verrastro Beer Distributor.

According to Anna Jean Onuschak of Top of the 80s Restaurant, event chairwoman, “We are thrilled to feature these three very talented, local chefs and business owners at our event. The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of their Annual 2018 Business and Community Awards. In an attempt to help promote October as “Chamber of Commerce” month, the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce will hold a special awards luncheon, sponsored by Community Bank, NA, to recognize the winners of the awards. Business & Community AwardsThe Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is now seeking nominations for their 17th Annual Business & Community Awards. The awards are given each year in order to recognize individuals and businesses, which help to promote and support the Greater Hazleton Area.

Nominations are being accepted for: Small Business of the Year; Large Business of the Year, Rocco Colangelo Volunteer of the Year, Pride of Place, Healthy Workplace of the Year, Green Business of the Year and Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

A business or individual may be nominated for an award or they can nominate themselves. Once the nomination is received by the Chamber, the nominee will be notified and asked to complete an official application. The applications are reviewed and scored by a volunteer committee, and all winners will be recognized at a special luncheon program, sponsored by Community Bank, N.A., to be held on Thursday, October 25th at 11:45 am Sand Springs Country Club in Drums.

Chamber Golf Winners Announced

Chamber Golf Tourney WinnersThe team comprised of players from DBi Services with team members Bob Gorski, Randy Kurzinsky, Neal DeAngelo, III and Bobby Hillibush took the Chamber’s Championship flight award during the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce 51st Annual Golf Tournament held Thursday, August 16th at Moutain Valley Golf Course in Barnesville.

150 golfers took part in the tournament which featured trophies, prizes and awards valued at over $15,000.00.

Other winners in the tournament were: First Flight Winners representing Pete Keselicka State Farm included Pete Keselicka, John Woodring, Pete Koval and George Leitner. Second Flight Winners representing Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton included Raymond Bernadi, Michele Roberts, Jon Morell and Joe Goeck. Closest to the Pin was won by Bill Davison golfing with Innotek Computer Consulting. Closest to the Pin 2nd Shot on the Green was won by Jon Morell golfing with Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton. Women’s Longest Drive award was won by Susanne Cerone golfing with Lackawanna College and the Men’s Longest Drive award was won by Adam Korinchock golfing with T. Verrastro Beer Distributor. Chamber Announces Starting Assignments for Thursdays Golf Outing

150 local and regional golfers will tee off at 11:00 AM on Thursday for the 51st Annual Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing. The shotgun start tournament is scheduled to take place at 11 am at Mountain Valley Golf Course in Barnesville, with registration beginning at 9 am, and will feature trophies, prizes and awards.

The tournament will begin with registration, coffee, donuts & pastries, and putting contest qualifications at 9:00 am. A cocktail hour and hors d’ oeuvres as well as a full course dinner and awards program will take place following the round of play.

Championship, first and second flight awards will be given. A closest to the pin, closet to the pin - second shot on the green and a men’s and women’s longest drive will also be presented. A Pot of Gold contest will be conducted and three hole in one contests will take place featuring a $1000 Boyers Shopping Spree, a $500 Yuengling Prize Package and a $250 Antiqua Prize Package.

51st Annual Golf Outing & On-Course Business ExpositionOnly a few openings remain for the 51st Annual Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing which will take place on Thursday, August 16th. Chamber Women’s Networking Committee Announces Applications Are Available for Women’s Empowerment Grant

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking committee is currently seeking applications for the tenth annual Women’s Empowerment Grant. This grant was established to encourage women to pursue training or education that will help them start or advance a career. The target of the grant is women who are: currently working and want to advance in their career through education or training; returning to the workforce; and/or seeking to change their current career path and pursue something more in line with their
interests or passions. The grant is also intended to be available to those who would not necessarily have access to scholarships or grants. For this reason, graduating high school students will not be eligible to apply for the grant.

Candidates must reside within the service area of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, which includes anyone who resides within the Hazleton Area School District. Applications and cover letters are due no later than July 27th with an anticipated August 31st notification. All applications will be scored on the following areas: Academic Information, Employment Information, Civic Involvement, Essay and Financial Need.

This year’s sponsors include the Geisinger Foundation, the Hershey Foundation, the AllOne Foundation, and the Luzerne County Convention & Visitor’s Bureau.

The market hours are 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM. This year’s vendors will include Burger’s Farm, which will be selling fresh produce; Sugar & Loaf Bakery, which will be offering breads and other baked goods, Keiner’s Nursery & Apiary, which will be selling plants, locally produced honey, and honey made products; Carvanjo Farm, which will be selling handcrafted goat milk soap, and the Butler Township Community Garden (“Growing Markets” program), which offers all organic produce. Chamber Hosting CPR, First Aid and AED Certification

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is offering certification on CPR, First Aid and AED on Friday, June 15th.

Employers are required by OSHA to provide medical and first aid personnel and supplies commensurate with the hazards of the workplace. This course combines lecture, video, demonstrations and hands-on manikin training, and teaches participants to: call and work with EMS; perform CPR and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies; avoid blood borne pathogens exposure; and know the role of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in the Cardiac Chain of Survival. Upon completion, students receive a certificate and wallet size certificate certifying training of First Aid, CPR and AED.

Krista L. Schneider Selected as Chamber’s 2018 Athena Recipient

Athena AwardKrista L. Schneider of the Downtown Alliance for Progress ( DHAP) has been selected as the recipient of the 2018 Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Athena Award, sponsored by Berger Family Dealership and Blaise Alexander Dealership.

Ms. Schneider is the Executive Director of DHAP since 2014, as well as one of the founding members of the non-profit that began work in earnest in the fall of 2013. The young organization has had substantial success including a comprehensive strategic plan for downtown revitalization to drive econonmic development and rehabilitaton of city’s core commercial district. Being designated as a Keystone Main Street by PA Department of Community and Economic Development, and receiving an award of the 6th best performing entity in the Commonwealth in 2017. Other highlights and successes under Krista’s leadership include, the City Arts Center initiative, work on establishing a city Park on Broad Street, renovating a blighted property for use as a new Penn State LaunchBox business incubator, as well as a $75,000 façade rehabilitation grant program for several properties downtown. Her work has resulted in an organization that has grown to over $1 million dollars in asset, with over $5 million dollars raised in public and private funding for downtown projects. The economic engine of DHAP work is evident in the 80 new business that have added more than 120 full-time equivalent jobs added in last four years.

She encourages attendees to come prepared to be engaged and enlightened by impactful leadership practices for the quick paced challenges that innovative and successful companies face in today’s world of work.”

Chamber to Host a Woman’s Luncheon March 27th

Women's LuncheonThe Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking Committee is holding their second in a series of woman’s networking luncheon programs for 2018 Tuesday, March 27th from 12 noon to 1 pm at Ovalon Restaurant, 252 N. Wyoming Street in Hazleton. The event is being sponsored by Lawn Specialties and it is open for any woman to attend. 

The program will begin promptly at 12 noon and will include a buffet style lunch. Our guest speaker is Michael J. Mahoney, DO, a provider of Lehigh Valley Physician Group–Hazleton, who will present on the benefits of robotic surgery. He will also touch on varicose vein treatment and general surgery.

Chamber Invites All Women to 12th Annual Ladies Night Out

Chamber Hosting Seminar on Managing Cash Flow for Small Business

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is offering a seminar on Managing Cash Flow for Small Businesses on Thursday, March 1st.

Cindy Milan-Ortiz, Assistant Branch Manager of Woodforest National Bank will present Managing Cash Flow for Small Business. Sessions objectives include: describing the purpose of cash flow management in a start-up business; assessing a cash flow cycle and cash flow projections; describing how a cash flow statement can help assess and improve the financial health of a start-up; identifying ways to manage cash flow in terms of managing costs and potential income; and identifying ways to seek out expert technical assistance to improve cash flow management.
