The top academic students from four area schools were honored May 25th as the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce conducted its 42nd annual Academic Achievement Awards Dinner. The event took place at Capriotti’s, McAdoo. Lorine Angelo Ogurkis, Esq. was the keynote speaker.

The Downtown Hazleton Farmer's Market, soon to be kicking off its fifth year, is seeking new vendors to expand the diversity of market offerings. Previous year’s vendors have included Burger’s Farm, O’Hara’s Orchard, The Good Hive (honey and honey-made products), Paula’s Patisserie, the Butler Township Community Garden (Growing Markets program), and Atomic Hog Pit BBQ. Featured food trucks and non-profit and educational institutions, including the PSU Master Gardeners and McCann School of Business have also participated in the past, whether offering ice cream, gardening workshops, or even free chair massages.
“It would be great if we could add some additional vendors this year,” said Chamber President Mary Malone, especially jam, jellies, juices, or even food trucks. Artists and crafters are also welcome.” The Chamber of Commerce operates the market with the support of the Downtown Hazleton Alliance for Progress.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Human Resource Committee has announced their Eleventh Annual Human Resource Seminar. This half day seminar consists of three sessions, two of which are breakout sessions where attendees can choose from two topics going on simultaneously, a keynote speaker, breakfast and lunch. This seminar is geared toward anyone in the human resource field, as well as small to mid-size business owners or anyone else who is interested in learning more about the topics being offered. The seminar is scheduled to take place on Thursday June 2nd on the 4th Floor of the Hazleton Campus of Luzerne County Community College located at 100 W. Broad Street in Downtown Hazleton. The seminar will run from 7:45 am to 1:00 pm.
