This morning, Luzerne County officials announced the opening of the Luzerne County Small Business Sustainability Grant Program. Eligible businesses can apply online at www.luzernecountyready.org.
The program aims to help mitigate the negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on small businesses, keep their doors open, protect local jobs, support community economic recovery, and increase resiliency across Luzerne County.
“I encourage all eligible small business owners to seize this opportunity and take advantage of the ARPA funding. By doing so, you will be investing in the future of your business and contributing to the revitalization of our local economy. This program is a perfect example of collaboration with many community partners who are so deeply invested in supporting our small businesses,” stated Romilda P. Crocamo, Esq., Luzerne County Manager, at a press event held at the Courthouse.
One-time, grant awards of $5,000 will be distributed to eligible applicants with less than 20 Full Time Equivalent Employees. Businesses with 20 or more Full Time Equivalent Employees may be eligible for up to $10,000 as funding allows.

The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking Committee is holding their final woman’s networking luncheon program for 2023 on Tuesday, November 28th from 12 noon to 1 pm at Rostas Café on 15th Street in Hazleton. The event is being sponsored by Maria Rosario Allstate Agency and the event is open for any woman to attend.
The program will begin promptly at 12 noon and will include a buffet lunch. The guest speaker is Susan J. Selby, CEO from Immanuel Christian School who is presenting on Cultural Intelligence and Cultural Competency. Prioritizing cultural intelligence within one's organization is essential for flourishing teams that are effective, creative, and innovative. The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners of their Annual 2023 Business and Community Awards. In an attempt to help promote October as “Chamber of Commerce” month, the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce will hold a special awards luncheon, sponsored by Community Bank, NA, to recognize the winners of the awards. The event is being sponsored by Lehigh Valley Hospital - Hazleton and the event is open for any woman to attend.
The program will begin promptly at 12 noon and will include a buffet lunch. The guest speaker is Dr. Lori A. Alfonse, DO, Deputy Physician in Chief, Cancer Institute, Surgical Oncology who will present on breast health. Dr. Alfonse focuses on breast cancers, benign disorders of the breast.
Dooprize drawings including, a free lunch for the next program and the opportunity to give an introduction of your business at the event will be drawn. Women are encouraged to bring along promotional items, such as business cards, brochures, giveaways, etc. to display on our business resource table.
