The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, along with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will once again sponsor the "Great American Cleanup” campaign. The one-day cleanup will be conducted Saturday, April 20th. If volunteer groups cannot pick up on the 22nd, they can gather either on Friday the 19th or Sunday the 21st. Groups are asked to leave bags along the cleaup route and PennDOT and local municipatlies will pick up the bags on Monday, April 22nd. Garbage bags, safety vests and gloves are provided to all the volunteer groups and can be picked up at the The HUB, the week of April 15th to the 21st from 10 am to 4 pm at 15 W. Broad Street, Hazleton, PA 18201 (across the street from the Chamber office).
"The Great American Cleanup" is a statewide effort designed to encourage concerned citizens and groups to participate in a meaningful community beautification effort. The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is the local coordinator for the Greater Hazleton Area.

March is designated Women’s History Month by presidential proclamation. In honor of this designation, we at the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce are featuring women in business throughout the month!
Today we are featuring Jessica Spare. Jessica recently accepted a position with Honesdale National Bank as the Vice President Commercial Loan Officer. She will be serving the Luzerne County Area.
She has been in the banking industry for the past 26 years, with her first position as a part-time teller at First Federal Saving & Loan of Hazleton. As a small business lender, for the past 10 years, she has enjoyed being a strong advocate for her clients and working closely to uniquely serve, grow, and fulfill their business and lending needs.
Ms. Spare enjoys mentoring her friends and family with any of their business or personal and finance needs. And she truly enjoys being her customers, “go to” person whenever they have a question or need help with anything financial!
For the past few years, she has been an active member of all four of our Chamber’s Women in Business Planning Committees and currently serves as Chair of one sub-committee and Vice Chair of two other sub-committees!
Jessica was born and raised in the Hazleton Area and currently live in Drums with her fiancé, daughter, son, and bonus-daughter.
The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce is holding their second woman in business luncheon program for 2024 on Tuesday, March 26TH from 12 noon to 1 pm at Damon’s Restaurant on Route 93 Hazleton. The event is being sponsored by Silver Pines Treatment Center and it is open for any woman to attend.
The program will begin promptly at 12 noon and will include lunch. Our guest speaker will be Bill Stegura, CRS, CFRS, Peer Recovery Specialist from Recovery Friendly Workplace – PA. He will present, What is the Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative & How It Improves Community, Businesses & Employees. Attendees will learn how this initiative is designed to help employers of ALL TYPES become more supportive of employees who are seeking recovery from substance use and mental health disorders. The RFW initiative is completely free to employers and can save thousands in costs each year, which is money that can be reinvested back into the community.
Everyone will enjoy lunch, a 50/50 raffle and doorprize drawings. Attendees are encouraged to bring your business cards, brochures, coupons or giveaways to share on our "Business Resource Table".
Additional luncheon programs for the remainder of the year have been set for Tuesdays, May 21st; July 30th, September 24th; and November 19th.

Roxie Rose is the owner of Powder & Ink Permanent Cosmetics and Tattoo Studio which is located in the CAN BE Incubator in West Hazleton.
Ms. Rose has lived in the Greater Hazleton area most of her life. She graduated from Hazleton Area High School in 2010 and then graduated from college in 2013.
