March is designated Women’s History Month by presidential proclamation. In honor of this designation, we at the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce are featuring women in business throughout the month!
Today we are featuring Kelly King, Executive Center Director for BOTH the Keystone Job Corps Center in Drums AND the Red Rock Job Corps Center in Sullivan County.
Ms. King has dedicated her career to the students at the Job Corp! She is only one of three female Executive Center Directors for the Job Corp nationwide and she is the ONLY Executive Center Director that covers two campuses! Her commitment to the students and staff is unmatched!
The KJCC is celebrating their 60th anniversary this year! Did you know that for the first three years of their existence they only accepted women in to the program? And in the early 70's they were the first center, nationwide, to accept women into the construction and trades programs! Currently they offer 23 trades to their students between the two campuses.
Under Ms. Kings leadership, the Keystone Job Corps Center was a Gold Star Center in 2023, ranked second in the nation. They earn this recognition through community outreach projects their students take part in. Jill Payne, WIOA Manager for Keystone is the lead on this program and she has her sight set on first place for 2024!
Kelly and Jill are pictured with a group of students at their 60th Anniversary Celebration which was held last week!
