The Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women's Networking Committee is proud to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2026 Women's Empowerment Grant, marking the 20th year of this impactful program that has helped women throughout the Greater Hazleton area pursue education, training, and career advancement.

Since the grant's inception 19 years ago, the Women's Networking Committee has distributed nearly $50,000 in educational assistance to 48 women across the Greater Hazleton area. Over the past two decades, the grant has helped women complete certificate programs, pay for coursework leading to new careers, and gain the skills needed to advance in their current professions. Recipients have pursued diverse educational and career paths including nursing assistant certification, real estate licensing, geology studies, leadership development, and many other professional training opportunities.

The Women's Empowerment Grant was established to encourage women to pursue educational and professional development opportunities that will help them achieve their career goals. The grant is intended for women who are currently employed and seeking advancement through additional education or training, women returning to the workforce, and those looking to transition into a new career that better aligns with their interests and passions.

Recognizing that many traditional scholarships focus on recent high school graduates, this grant is specifically designed for adult women who may not otherwise have access to financial assistance for education or workforce training. As such, graduating high school seniors are not eligible to apply.

To be eligible, applicants must reside within the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce service area, which includes anyone residing within the Hazleton Area School District. Preference may be given to women who have participated in Chamber Women's Networking programs.

Applications must include a completed application, cover letter, essay, and proof of enrollment. All materials must be received by Friday, July 31, 2026.

You can click here to download an application.

Applications may be mailed to:

Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce
Attn: Women's Empowerment Grant
8 West Broad Street, Suite M-1490
Hazleton, PA 18201

Or emailed to with the subject line 2026 Women's Empowerment Grant.

Applications will be evaluated based on academic information, employment history, civic involvement, essay, and demonstrated financial need. Each application will be reviewed by a committee consisting of at least three members of the Greater Hazleton Chamber Women's Networking Grant Committee.

Selected applicants may be invited to interview on Thursday, August 13, 2026, either in person or via Zoom. Recipients are expected to be notified by the end of August 2026. Grant funds will be distributed directly to the recipient's educational institution.

"Celebrating the 20th year of the Women's Empowerment Grant is a testament to the dedication of our Women's Networking Committee and the generosity of those who have supported this initiative over the years," said Mary Malone, President and CEO of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce. "Nearly $50,000 has been invested in 48 remarkable women whose educational journeys have led to new careers, professional certifications, leadership opportunities, and personal growth. Whether helping someone become a certified nursing assistant, earn a real estate license, study geology, or develop leadership skills, this grant continues to change lives by opening doors to new possibilities."

The Greater Hazleton Chamber Women's Networking Committee is dedicated to empowering women through professional development, education, networking, and community engagement. The Women's Empowerment Grant remains one of the committee's signature initiatives, demonstrating its long-standing commitment to investing in the success of women throughout Greater Hazleton.
