womens summer promo pic resizedThe Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce Women’s Networking Committee invites all women from throughout Greater Hazleton to a “Summer Networking Mixer” on Wednesday, July 18th from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Top of the 80’s Restaurant, located at 3 Top of the 80’s Road in Hazleton. Women’s events provide an excellent opportunity to share your business and services with other businesswomen from throughout the area, meet new contacts and re-connect with old ones, in a casual atmosphere.

Women will gather for a relaxing evening on the outdoor patio overlooking the beautiful Conyngham/Drums valley. An array of complimentary hors d’ oeuvres will be provided and drink specials will be available. A doorprize drawing and a 50/50 raffle will take place to benefit our Women's Empowerment Grant. Everyone is also encouraged to bring your business cards, brochures, coupons or giveaways to share on our "Business Resource Table"

 

There is a $5.00 registration fee for Chamber members and a $7.00 registration fee for non Chamber members, which will be collected at the door. Proceeds will benefit the annual Women’s Empowerment Grant fund.

In other Chamber Women’s Networking news, a luncheon program will take place on Tuesday, July 31st at Martin’s Restaurant in West Hazleton from 12 noon to 1 pm. Ting Oh, Owner & Physical Therapist at Fyzical Therapy & Balance Center will present on present on hearing loss and dimentia. He will discuss how to take positive steps to improve hearing wellness can reduce the risk of dementia for yourself or a loved one. Cost is $18 for members and $25 for non members.

Also, applications are now being accepted for the tenth annual Women’s Empowerment Grant. Applications and cover letters are due no later than Friday, July 27th. This grant was established to encourage women to pursue training or education that will help them start or advance their career. The target of the grant is women who are: currently working and want to advance in their career through education or training; returning to the workforce; and/or seeking to change their current career path and pursue something more in line with their interests or passions. The grant is also intended to be available to those who would not necessarily have access to scholarships or grants. For this reason, graduating high school students will not be eligible to apply for the grant. Candidates must reside within the service area of the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, which includes anyone who resides within the Hazleton Area School District. Applications may be downloaded from the chamber website at www.hazletonchamber.org.
