The rescheduled 2018 Downtown Hazleton Classic Car Cruise-In will take place this Friday, August 24, 2018 from 6 pm to 8:30 pm. The NEW location will in two parking lots in downtown Hazleton. The first being the empty lot located on Broad and Pine Street, across from Jimmy’s Hot Dogs and second being the municipal lot located on Chestnut Street between Wyoming and Pine Streets.

Free entertainment by “8 Traxx”, a 70’s and 80’s inspired band, will perform in the Pine Street parking lot. A chance to win prizes donated by AutoZone and various downtown merchants will take place.

 

Due to significant rain, the previous two dates were cancelled and the committee revised the format. Please note that Broad Street will not be closed. The Food Fusion event will also not occur. Thanks to the generosity of the City of Hazleton, and Joyce Insurance for allowing the use of the two parking lots closest to the downtown area.

Jim Grohol, Chamber Car Cruise Chairman noted, “We are looking forward to seeing fantastic cars and making the most of a summer tradition with our revised format”. Bill Spear, Downtown Committee Chairman added, “A huge thank you to the Auto Trade Association for their continued sponsorship and support of this event. We were able to do the side walk car show on August 10th before the rain came, so we are looking forward to the second part of the display with individuals bringing out their cars.”

On Cruise night, the vehicles can enter at Church and Chestnut Streets (by the former Blue Comet Diner), and come down Chestnut to Pine. The first twenty cars will park in the Pine Street lot and the remainder will be directed to the Chestnut Street lot located at Cedar and Church Streets. All vehicles will be available to the public for viewing until 8:30 pm. Dash Plaques, compliments of Lehigh Tire Company, will be presented to the first 70 vehicles as well as goodie bags, donated with items from local businesses.

The public is encouraged to attend by coming to Downtown Hazleton to view the hundreds of vehicles and take advantage of the many businesses that will remain open.
