Community members are invited to ring in the holiday season with the City of Hazleton and its partners for a combined Holiday Celebration on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at City Hall Block – 40 N. Church Street, from 4 to 9 PM.

The Mayor’s Office is collaborating with CAN DO, the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Hazleton Alliance for Progress (DHAP), Hazleton Parks and Recreation, and the Hazleton Public Library to bring ‘The City of Hazleton’s Holiday Celebration’ to life. This family-friendly event will be an evening full of holiday cheer for all Greater Hazleton Area community members and their families.

The free event will feature food trucks and a holiday vendor market sponsored by DHAP. Vendors include Poppy Press; J Zapata; Flaming Jalapeño; La Tía Empanada; T-Soon Moon; Carola’s Bakery; A Sweet Duo; Pasapalos Times; Gigi Art; and Mels Crafting. The Hazleton Library will also hold a free holiday craft event that is available for all attendees, which along with DHAP’s market, will run throughout the evening until the close of the celebrations at 9:00 PM.

Chamber members and their guests are invited to attend the Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Downtown Holiday Mixer, which will run from 5:30 – 7:30 PM within City Hall. Rocco's Restaurant and T. Verrastro Beer Distribution will be lifting holiday spirits by providing hors d'oeuvres and libations for guests. The Holiday Mixer is a free event for members, but reservations are required.

The evening’s main event will feature the Mayor’s City Hall Tree Lighting, which begins at 5:00 PM and concludes at 6:15 PM. Guests can expect musical performances and a visit from a very special guest!

Immediately following Mayor Cusat’s Tree Lighting Ceremony, attendees are invited to join CAN DO’s Student Action Committee for the 29th Annual CAN DO Community Christmas from 6:15-8:30 PM at Christ Lutheran Church. Holiday celebrations will continue with musical performances by local school bands and choir performances throughout the remainder of the evening.

Partners are excited to kick off the Yuletide season in such a new and memorable way. Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce President, Mary Malone said, “We are excited to be combining three traditional events in our community and adding two new elements to a jolly holiday event that includes vendors, singing, crafting, tree lighting, and the Chamber mixer. It is a great way to celebrate and kick off the Holiday Season!”

Hazleton City Mayor Jeff Cusat also expressed his excitement for the community wide celebration: “The combining of these events will put the city on the map with one of the largest Christmas attractions in the area; bringing the community together for a joyful celebration.”
